MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. denied the claim of her sister, Sen. Imee Marcos, that the administration was hatching a plan to put Vice President Sara Duterte and her allies in jail by appointing a new Ombudsman.

In the latest episode of his podcast, President Marcos said he would select a new Ombudsman based on recommendations and results of the interview with the candidates.
"No, this is because we have to appoint a Ombudsman. Let us look at the recommendation, the findings et cetera, and then, the decision will be made," the President saidwhen asked to react to the senator’s claim.
"We’re not at that point yet. Let us wait for the process," he added.

Senator Marcos accused the administration of hatching “Plan C” through Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla’s application for the Ombudsman post, following failed attempts to oust Duterte through a people’s initiative and impeachment.

Remulla is among those applying to become Ombudsman.
